VELO CLUB
Guilford County has a
very active and vibrant cycling community and it is largely due to the
efforts and enthusiasm of Greensboro Velo Club members.
Membership allows you to benefit from the association with other cyclists to broaden your knowledge and enjoyment of the sport, be it
organized racing, trail construction & maintenance, transportation
advocacy or riding for fun and fitness. The Greensboro Velo Club was established 1975 and originally focused
primarily on racing. The GVC grew to include recreational riding and has partnered with the Greensboro
Fat Tire Society to become an all-inclusive cycling club.

MOUNTAIN BIKING
The Greensboro Fat Tire Society is dedicated to the promotion and education of responsible mountain biking. Our members have come together to open new avenues (or trails) to the mountain biking community. With an organized effort we hope to accomplish many goals. One major goal being to bring a positive attitude toward mountain biking in general by maintaining existing trails and developing new ones.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
Tour de Guilford - Group ride starting with roadies and MTB. Start at Country Park then out Wild Turkey for the grand opening ride! June 14th.
State of North Carolina Games at Country Park - June 21st.
The Epic festival ride - September 6th
The Sizzler (www.southernclassicmtb.org)Burmil -August 10th.
We want new members and volunteers to help us build a brand new mountain biking trail, Wild Turkey! This new trail will connect the green way to Lake Brandt Rd. and allow access to Reedy Fork. For information, contact Dale Holder at 681-4968 or dholder@apartmentfinder.com

RECREATIONAL
It is the mission of the Greensboro Velo Club to promote cycling for persons of all
abilities and skill levels. We provide opportunities for all cyclists through the scheduling of annual new rider clinics, insuring adequate weekly group ride opportunities, planning social events reflecting the inherent fellowship of cycling, promoting GVC sponsored cycling events/rides, and encouraging cyclists to join and become active in the
GVC.

RACING
Local business sponsorships help fund the
Greensboro Velo Club Racing Teams. Racing every year since 1976, the team currently counts 45 to 60 members throughout the season. Team members represent the GVC in all racing categories and age divisions, on road and on mountain bikes. Team members annually elect a captain for the road, mountain and junior mountain divisions. Sponsorship monies are awarded at season's end, based on the number of races entered and the completion of volunteer requirements within the club. If you are interested in racing, please contact Dale Brown at Cycles de
Oro, the GVC's VP of Road Racing or the VP of Mountain Bike Racing
